Orlando Sexual Battery Lawyer
Understanding Florida's Sexual Battery Laws
Sexual battery is defined and explained in Chapter 794 of the 2015 Florida Statutes. Synonymous with rape, sexual battery involves forcing an individual to engage in sexual intercourse against their will whether through actual force or by targeting an individual who is incapable of giving consent. Although this is always a serious charge, it is especially serious when charged in conjunction with domestic abuse.
If you have been accused of sexual battery in Orlando, it is important to remember there is a difference between a criminal charge and a conviction. At Mazin Law, we can work with you to protect your legal rights and create a sound defense strategy. There are several defenses that can be asserted in such cases. For example, it could be argued that the victim consented, that you did not intimately touch the victim, or that it is a case of misidentification. We encourage you to discuss your situation with our law firm.

Consequences of Sexual Battery Charges in Florida
As both a sexual and often violent crime, it is also one of the most severely punished, although penalties will vary depending on the circumstances of the crime.
Examples of potential penalties include:
- Someone 18 or older accused of committing sexual battery against someone 12 or younger will be charged with a capital felony punishable by the death penalty or life imprisonment without parole. If the accused is younger than 18, punishment is life imprisonment or at least 30 years of imprisonment.
- If the victim is older than 12, the minimal charge is a second-degree felony punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment; in some cases, this can be escalated to a first-degree felony punishable by up to 30 years.

Great attorney. In search of an attorney we had came across Mr. Mazin. We reached out after reading reviews, as most of us do, and he immediately took my phone call. We were in a desperate situation and needed an attorney almost immediately. Not only did he review the case while on the phone with me, but made sure to even reach out to others who were involved within the case. We hadn't signed a contract or made a payment and he had done more for us than several other attorneys that we had spoken with. I explained the details in reference to the case and he asked that I send him anything that he could review and give his legal expertise. I was utterly shocked. He's extremely polite, diligent, and more so he's worth every dollar. He let's you know from the get go, that when you invest into him, he makes you family. He treats your case as if he were going through it himself or a close relative. He advised our family and educated us on how these upcoming court proceedings would happen, and made sure to let us know that he would work with us in any way possible.- Angela V.
